Connect to your website through WebDav

STEP ONE:

Go to MY NETWORK PLACES icon. This will either be an icon on your desktop or located on your start menu.

STEP TWO:

Choose ADD NETWORK PLACE. This step will open a Wizard. Once the Wizard is open, take the following steps:

  1. Click NEXT
  2. Choose the option to “Choose another network location. Specify the address of a Web site, network location, or FTP site.”
  3. Enter the full URL for the website you wish to connect to, adding a/webdav at the end of the URL (for example http://vcho.cisat.jmu.edu/webdav)
  4. You will be asked to enter a username and password. You will need to use your full login name and your CISATNT password. (for example, your login name would be cisatnt\yourusernamehere) Make sure you use the appropriate “\” in this place. If you cannot remember your username or password, email HELP@cisat.jmu.eduOnce you have successfully entered your login name and password, you will get notifca tion of success on the next Wizard screen. A checkbox to “Open this network place when I click Finish” should be checked. Click FINISH and the directory for your site will appear.
  5. To connect to your site in the future, just go back to MY NETWORK PLACES and your site will show up on a list of connected sites. You only have to add the site once. You will be asked to enter your login name and password each time you reconnect.
  6. Once you are connected, you can simply DRAG and DROP files onto your site. The easiest way to do this is you keep a window open with your site directory. While the site directory window is open, open a second window that displays the local files that make up your website. Drag files from your local window on the site window. When you do this, your website will be updated.
