Most of our services are offered 100% free of charge to all faculty and staff within the academic departments of the College of Health and Behavioral Studies and the College of Integrated Science and Engineering.
Sponsored programs and grants affiliated with CHBS and CISE typically pay for services. We may not be able to take on all grant projects, depending on our workload. (Our rate is $35/hour for all types of projects)

Web Design and Maintenance
Web design and maintenance accounts for about half of our working time. We currently manage over sixty websites for a variety of academic and outreach programs within CHBS and CISE.
Creative Services creates accessible sites and follows the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) Guidelines.
Our web design services are offered free of charge to all academic departments and programs within CHBS and CISE. Outreach, sponsored, and grant programs affiliated with CHBS and CISE have access to our services as time allows, but must pay the hourly rate. We do not have the resources to support websites for individual faculty research and teaching.
We offer our services on a first come - first served basis, but always try to ensure that each department within CHBS and CISE has equal access to our time and resources.
Web design and maintenance is one of our most popular services. At times, waiting lists for these services are in effect.
From a sleek four-color brochure that is printed professionally to a simple illustration used in departmental marketing materials, we have the software and expertise to help your program or department develop publications to fit within any budget.
We have worked with many local printing companies and can take your print needs from concept to completion.
Our publications work is done using Adobe's industry standard software package, InDesign.

Research Poster Design
Do you want to present your research in the best possible way?
Let us design a poster for you using Adobe Indesign. Simply provide us with the data in an electronic format and we will come up with an eye pleasing design for your next conference presentation.
Do you want to design your own poster?
If you design your own poster, our staff is happy to review the finished product and help you with final graphic design decisions. Poster designs must be requested at least 10 days before the final product is needed.
Why stick with clip art or a logo you don't like? We are available to design logos and custom illustrations to meet your needs.
Our graphic design team is made up of professional staff and students from JMU's art department. Our team uses Adobe Illustrator to create original vector-based art.

Creative Services has a pool of freelance, on-call photographers available to take photos for your department or program. If you are collaborating with Creative Services on a marketing effort, publication, or story project, photography services are free to departments within CHBS and CISE. If you would like commemorative photos taken (awards, receptions, presentations, guest speakers, pinning ceremonies, etc), we are happy to help you schedule one of our student photographers. We can bill your department for the time used. It also If you need clarification about whether your photography project is free or fee, please contact Creative Services.
We maintain an online bank of photographs for the College through Flickr. Most of these images are available to anyone within the college who wants to use them for any use that promotes JMU. Please inquire about images before you use them in your publications or websites. We can typically provide high resolution photos for use in print publications.
If you have an event you would like covered, please fill out out project request form.
* Photo shoots must be requested at least 10 days before the event. All event coverage is based on photographer availability. There may be some events we cannot cover due to student scheduling. Planning early enables us to provide better staff coverage. We rely on freelance student photographers for this service, and can not guarantee that we will be able to shoot all requested events.
We have a team of student videographers that are available for a variety of project types. In the past we have created short videos to showcase facilities or academic programs. On occasion we have produced video stories to promote events within the college. View our Youtube channel
Unfortunately we do not have the resources to be able to video tape guest speakers or class lectures. However video cameras are available for check out through Carrier Library - http://www.lib.jmu.edu/innovation/equipmentloans/ and we can assist with editing the video after the event.
Video Transfer -VHS to DVD
Are your VHS tapes starting to show their age? We can archive non-copy protected VHS video tapes to DVD to preserve them for future use. We have a VCR and DVD recorder that can be used to transfer directly to DVD-Rs – suitable for most television DVD players. Transferring to DVD won’t improve an already deteriorated video, but will prevent future quality loss.
We can not capture, digitize or make duplicates of copy-protected/copyrighted materials.
We have a staff of student writers available to create feature stories, profile pieces and press releases to more effectively share news and events from our departments and programs. If you have a story lead, please fill out our project request form.
